Understanding TruTalent Candidate Matching

Overview

TruTalent® uses a detailed, multi-layered matching process to help employers identify the most qualified candidates for each position. By combining clearly defined job requirements with advanced AI-powered evaluation, we ensure that applicant matches are accurate, relevant, and aligned with your hiring needs.


Setting Up Your Job for Accurate Matching

1. Creating a Job Description

When you create a new job posting, you’ll be guided through a structured process to define the role. There are three core components to the job description:

  1. Position Description: A brief overview of the role and its purpose.
  2. Duties & Responsibilities: The key functions and essential tasks the role must fulfill.
  3. Qualifications: The education, certifications, work experience, skills, competencies, and languages required for the ideal candidate. Each item can be marked as Mandatory, Expected, or Valued.

This ensures that all important criteria are clearly defined before the position is posted.

2. Identification of Top TruTalents

Once all job details are complete and the posting is ready to go live, our system automatically adds the TruTalents most strongly correlated with success in the role.

This results in four core qualification categories used in matching:

  1. TruTalents
  2. Education
  3. Work Experience
  4. Skills

These categories form the foundation of the applicant evaluation process.

3. Setting Talent Preferences and Weighting

Employers can further refine the matching process using the Talent Preferences tool. Here, you may assign weighting to each qualification category to influence how much it contributes to a candidate’s overall match score. For example, if skills are more important than education for a given role, you can assign a higher weight to the Skills category.


How Matching Works

Our platform uses a sophisticated AI matching algorithm that evaluates a combination of the following factors:

  • Explicitly identifiable qualifications such as listed experience, degrees, and required skills
  • Implied or transferable qualifications such as related skills or overlapping competencies

The algorithm compares these qualifications to the job’s defined criteria to generate a match score for every applicant.

Warning
Automatic Rematching. You may choose to update the qualifications for your posting at some point during the hiring process. In this case, all applicants are automatically re-matched to ensure consistency with the updated criteria.Please note that triggering re-matching will lock any previous TalentScout chats.

Reviewing Candidates

Matched applicants are displayed as Candidates for your job posting.

You can review each candidate by:

  • Viewing their overall match score
  • Reviewing section-by-section match details for each qualification category
  • Opening the candidate’s submitted résumé 

This gives you a clear and comprehensive understanding of how each applicant aligns with the needs of your organization.
